The Monroe Institute programs are not predicated on any particular belief system or doctrine. The only philosophical point you are asked to consider as a serious possibility is that you are more than your physical body.
Many who attend programs develop a different overview, a changed perspective from which life’s experiences seem to take on a new significance. Our programs consist of a carefully sequenced series of learning exercises during which participants learn methods to move along a continuum of consciousness, shifting between one phase (or focus of consciousness) and another.
If you have attended a program, your comments are invited or, if you have a question about a program, please ask.

In Dec. 2006 I attended Gateway Voyage at IONS in Petaluma CA, and it was a fantastic experience!
The food was gourmet… I seriously didn’t want to leave.
The campus was beautiful, and the trainers Chris and Karen were excellent.
Of course, I did also learn a lot about myself through the meditations and group exercises… and had some wonderful synchronicities happen!
In that week, I really became aware of how interconnected we all really are. Things happened in the meditations and within our group that can’t be explained by mere coincidence…
There is something larger connecting all of us, and Gateway Voyage really helped me understand that and connect to it.
I can’t wait to go to my next Residential Program!
Nice to see you reaching out and building community through social media. We are a very large TMI family at this point and this appears to be a great way to share ideas. Thanks for getting it started.

I think the blog idea is great!
I was wondering if it is possible to set up some kind of find-your-local-TMI people function? I live in a large city (Tucson) but have met only one person who has gone to a TMI program. There must be others but I don’t know how to contact them.
Peace,
Mary Ann
Mary Ann, here is a link I found on the TMI website of an outreach trainer in your area. Maybe she knows other TMI grads in your area.

Mary Ann,
I think that’s a great idea!
Mary Ann, I went to a meeting a month or so ago to help establish a local TMI group. I was eager to find others with an interest in TMI and/or “graduates” from TMI. I discovered later that there were several others in the area that had been to TMI, but did not know of the organizational meeting. Apparently their contact information was not current with TMI and, therefore, they could not be contacted. I certainly hope that TMI will be providing lists of local people who have attended so that we can build our local base.
However, I’m not sure, due to confidentiality, that TMI can share contact information unless the local contact person is a certified outreach trainer. Where I live in south west Florida, our contact person is not an official trainer yet, so I don’t think we can get that information. We can maybe pay for advertisement in the local paper to reach those who are interested.
Love, Light, Laughter,
Candie
I am so excited about the success of Paul Rademacher’s meetings and the initiation of local chapters! The Institute can help provide some contacts in each of your locations.
As you probably remember, we ask you to complete a contact form at the end of each residential program. On it you give permission to give out your name and address information to those in your area who request names of Monroe participants. The best way to get the most contacts is to ask us for a list, by telephone area codes, for your area. So write me at TMIPrograms@aol.com and include the area codes. I will email a list with each person’s name, home phone number and email address.
The connection continues!
Perhaps you can answer the following questions: I originally purchased and used the hemisync tapes that were intended to produce out of body experiences. Other than some minor perceptual effects, the tapes were unsuccessful. Also, despite a number of attempts, I have never been successfully hypnotized. I am speculating that there may be a relationship here.
Having studied some works on shamanism, my question would be, does the Monroe Institute study other methods for inducing OBE’s? For example, have the herbs used by Shamans in various cultures been studied? Also, has basic research been done on the number of individuals who achieve OBE’s by use of hemisync?
As you probably know, Robert Monroe’s primary interest was how various frequency sound patterns (particularly binaural beats) might help others access the out-of-body states he experienced spontaneously. To that end, and over the years, binaural beat sound technology has been TMI’s research interest, to the exclusion of other methods for helping to induce OBEs.
When asked by participants how many people would experience OBEs during the course of residential programs, Bob would respond “oh, somewhere between 15 and 20%.” This was his “intuitive” response, however, rather than hard numbers gleaned through the collection of data.
